Frequently Asked Questions

Learn more about how image metadata works, privacy considerations, and local browser processing.

Does AI Metadata Remover upload my image?
No. AI Metadata Remover is built on client-side architecture. File inspection, tag parsing, and metadata stripping take place directly in your browser's local memory using modern Web APIs. Your images are not uploaded or stored on any remote server during supported local processing workflows.
What is AI metadata?
AI metadata refers to technical tags and parameter payloads embedded into images generated by artificial intelligence tools (such as Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, ComfyUI, or DALL-E). This data frequently includes the text prompt, negative prompt, seed number, sampler settings, CFG scale, model checkpoint, and software identifiers.
What is EXIF metadata?
EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) is an industry-standard metadata specification recorded by digital cameras and smartphones. It commonly contains camera make and model, date and time of capture, shutter speed, lens focal length, aperture, ISO settings, and device orientation.
Can metadata contain my location?
Yes. If GPS or location tracking was active on your smartphone or camera when the photo was captured, the image's EXIF and GPS blocks often store precise latitude, longitude, altitude, and sometimes even the compass direction. Removing GPS metadata protects your physical privacy before sharing photos publicly.
Does removing metadata reduce image quality?
No. AI Metadata Remover uses lossless container-level binary chunk stripping rather than HTML5 canvas re-encoding. The compressed pixel payload (JPEG entropy data, PNG IDAT chunks, WebP VP8/VP8L bitstreams) is preserved with 100% bit-for-bit fidelity and zero compression artifacts.
Can removing metadata make an AI image impossible to detect?
No. Stripping metadata removes only declarative text tags and file markers indicating AI origin. It does not alter visual pixel artifacts, frequency distributions, watermarks, or algorithmic visual traits that specialized AI detectors or forensic computer vision models analyze.
Do I need an account?
No. The core AI Metadata Remover tools are completely accessible without registration, email submission, or login credentials. You can inspect and clean your files immediately and anonymously.
